New Video

Filed under: Uncategorized — storytel @ 9:13 pm

I just recieved the new video from the factory. It looks really great. The title is “Exciting Christian String Figures” and includes a string for $9.95 each.

Now I am trying to figure out where to send it for review and to get it the attention it needs. I have made a fact sheet to go along with it and have about 6 periodicals that review such things. I send it in and then wait. Sometimes for a long time for a review to eventually come out.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Strings everywhere

Filed under: Uncategorized — storytel @ 8:47 pm

I am trying to organize the strings at my house. Goodwill Indursties, Inc. welds them and I pick them up from them. They are in bags of one gross, each color seperated. They are supposed to keep regular length, long and neon separated but sometimes they get mixed up.

I have bags of these strings all over and am trying to seperate them out into the three catagories. Neon are in the garage, Regular are in my spare room and Longs are in my room.

It is my job to count out so many of each color to make the assortments of 50, 110, or 1,000. I have been doing that with the strings. I think that I will be able to get through all of the bags from Goodwill and have them seperated in a couple of days. getting them counted out is an ongoing process. Buy, Buy, Buy so I can get rid of some of these.

Thanks, Dave

In the evening of the 14th I did a program for Camp Cornerstone, a camp for Jr and Sr High students. We had a lot of fun with the string. They had a camera and two screens so the 350 students could see. They also bought enought strings to send one extra home with the kids. We taught them to share the Gospel and then equipped them with the tools to do it. I had lots of good coments from the staff.

I gave a program on Tuesday the 14th. There was a nice crowd there with some of the kids that I had seen at their schools. There were a couple of Oriental mothers with children. One of them was excited to do the Cat’s Cradle with me. She did it as a child. Her 5 year old was really good at making the things that I taught.

They gave me a gift certificate and I bought some books for the school in Pakistan. I had already bought some puzzles and when we sent them off the cost of shipping was over $30. It is not cost effective to send too much to them. The wordless picture books go from left to right and the Urdu language goes from right to left so they don’t work too well. Shape charts and books were designed for the English alphabet. Circles, triangles and squares are used to make our letters. Not in Urdu. They have all kinds of curlicues, etc.

McKinney Street Baptist Church, Denton, TX

Filed under: Uncategorized — storytel @ 10:14 am

I drove to Texas yesterday afternoon to do a couple of programs for the summer Bible School at the McKinney Street Baptist Church. I arrived early and had a chance to visit with a number of very nice people. They have many adults involved in the program.

They heard of me from one of the teachers of a school that I worked with in the Fall in Denton. There were a couple of kids that remembered me from their school. Thanks to word of mouth the bookings keep coming.

There were about 130 kids, adults and teen helpers to the evening program. The children were divided into two groups for my presentations, 4 year olds through 2nd grade and 3 through 5. The younger ones are just happy to have a string. They can make so many things that only they can see. It is great. The older ones were really good at making some of the things.
